looking forward to the Summer Solstice

The whole thing started when I was a senior in high school.  I hadn’t spent much time in self-reflection before that… and I was asked to write an essay about the purpose of God in Society or some weird assignment like that.  I had no idea.  Catholic mom, Jewish dad, not a whole lot of spiritual upbringing… I literally fell asleep at the computer (an Apple II+, I think) the night before the paper was due.  I woke up with keyboard imprints on my cheek at around 4am and started on a stream-of-consciousness that turned into the only A+ paper I ever had.  It was just a letter to “God” that explained why I couldn’t answer the question that my teacher had posed.  It became an examination of self and it was the impetus for a piqued curiousity about why we are here and is there a God and all those delicious questions that I think are at the heart of anyone who has arrived at this online community called Zaadz.
